  1. 5/24/96.  Notes on SRE-FILTER 1.11 -- a REXX filter for GoServe.
  2.  
  3. SRE-FILTER is designed to work with OS/2 Warp, and with GoServe 2.45+.
  4. It will work under 2.11, but it uses the Warp version of the 
  5. REXXUTIL library (which contains some routines not in the OS/2 2.1x version).
  6. In other words: If you use GoServe under OS/2 2.11, or with earlier versions
  7.                 of GoServe (prior to 2.45),
  8.                 you might have sporadic problems!

  11. Installation notes:
  12.  
  13. After unzipping SREFV111.ZIP (you can use UNZIP to do this)
  14. to an empty, temporary directory...
  15. 1) Open an os/2 window
  16. 2) CD to this temporary directory
  17. 3) Run INSTALL.CMD.  You will be asked for a variety of
  18.    directories.    You will also be asked for your IP address
  19.    (it's optional).

  21. This version of SRE-FILTER uses "macro space" to store frequently
  22. used routines.  To do this, the REXXLIB  shareware library is used 
  23. (if you intend to use REXXLIB for something other then SRE-FILTER,
  24. you should obtain the REXXLIB package through HOBBES.NMSU.EDU or from
  25. www.quercus-sys.com/rexxlib.htm).

  27.    Notes on reinstallation of SRE-FILTER:
  28.      If INSTALL detects a pre-existing file, it will ask you if
  29.      you want to overwrite it.  For some "configuration" files
  30.      if will ask you twice!
  31.      In general, if you are reinstalling SRE-FILTER, you should
  32.      backup *.IN, INITFILT.*, *.CTL and *.CNT.

  35. 4) After INSTALL is done, from your server, load up FILTINST.HTM
  36.     (or, load up the "default document" for your server, and choose the
  37.     configuration option)  and use it to configure SRE-FILTER's parameters.
  38.     You might want to read some of the documentation first.

  40. HINT: If GoServe won't let you in (because it can't find a filter), you can
  41. add "FILTER SREFILTR" (without the quotes) to the GoServe icon's "parameters"
  42. option.
